query about central heating?

waller h asked:

Hello friends,
I recently got my boiler replaced with a new ‘A’ rated glow worm one.I have observed that my central heating starts in no time only when I put my hot water on.If I only start central heating, it doesn’t seem to heat up the radiators.I have set the room thermostat to 22 C .Any ideas please.
Thanks guys for all ur answers apprantly found out that the lever in diverter valve wan’t switching from HW to CH.I moved it manually and CH worked fine.Just wanted to know if I can keep moving it manually everyday for CH to work or is it not safe?

Bubbles in central heating?

john r asked:

Once or twice a day, a flurry of bubbles pass through one of my radiators, I think it happens when the three way valve operates, when the valve changes from heating and water to just heating. The system has theomostatic valves although two radiators have been left without any to ensure adequate flow. The boiler is almost new, condensing type. Previously I thought that the pump switched off while the three way valve operated, since the new boiler installation the pump runs continiously while there is a heat demand. Any help would be appreciated

What is the most economical way to heat just 1 room of a 2 bedroom house?

Micsten asked:

I work from home and wish to heat just one room (my office) during the day. We have central heating and my office has a radiator. I could turn this on and turn all other radiators off in the house and put the heating on.

But would it be more economical to buy a small oil electric oil radiator with a thermostat like this one here -

http://www.charliesdirect.co.uk/product_pages/product_details.asp?ProductID=16350

… To place in my room, rather than have the central heating boiler on all day trying to heat the entire house to the temp I set on the central heating thermostat?

boiler settings to save energy?

maggotbrain asked:

hey, i am trying to lower my energy bill and save energy.

I have the rehema avanta boiler. I have turned of Central heating and have lowered the domestic hot water temperate to 40 degrees celcius. The other setting i am able to change is whether to have domestic hot water preheating turned on or off. Would having this on or off save more energy and what does it mean? thanks

Carmen
