Solar Heating For Swimming Pools And Spas - Start Saving On Heating Bills

More and more pool owners are beginning to exploit the great benefits that come with using the sun’s energy as a heat source. With the right products, you can make the very almost all of the sun’s energy, using it to keep your pool comfortably warm all season long. By trying solar heating for swimming pools and spas, you can noticeably reduce or perhaps lose your dependence on electricity and other non-renewable sources of heating energy, that will significantly slash your energy bills. At the same time, you will be seriously reducing your negative impact in the world by employing a green energy source. With the sun providing such a strong, replaceable and free heating source, solar heating for swimming pools and spas is a concept that is becoming more and more popular annually.

If you’re a pool owner and need to exploit the sun’s free energy for heating purposes, there is a wide selection of excellent products and solar pool heating systems to choose between here are some heat pump costs. One of the most common paths to harness solar power for swimming pools is thru the utilization of solar blankets and reels. Featuring thousands of little sealed air pockets, solar pool blankets are specially meant to promote the transference of heat from the sun into the water. Solar pool blankets also act as insulators, trapping heat in the swimming pool and preventing heat loss. Smaller solar covers with the same sort of design are also available for spas and hot tubs. Solar pool & spa blankets are available in a variety of thicknesses ( generally between 8-mil to 16-mil ), each with their own features & length of warranty so there’s bound to be one that is’s excellent for your pool and your position. While full-sized solar blankets can be burdensome, they’re relatively easy to use when attached to solar pool reels. Solar pool reels are available in manual models as well as water-driven models and supply an easy way to handle solar pool blankets.

Other wonderful products that will permit you to harness the sun’s free energy to heat your pool include solar sun rings, solar pills and sun pool domes. Solar sun rings are passive solar heating devices which consist of 2 layers of UV-resistant vinyl. The top layer is clear and holds insulating air. This layer serves to focu one thousand s sunlight on the blue lower layer. The blue layer of solar sun rings then absorbs daylight and converts it to heat . When solar sun rings are spread over a pool, they will cover approximately seventy to 80 % of the water’s surface, allowing for some the water to get direct daylight and to stay open to the air to reduce the likelihood of algae growth. Solar sun rings are very safe devices as they stop accidental entrapment. Also they are very easy to use as they can be placed and removed by one individual.

If you are especially worried with ease-of-use, solar pills and sun pool domes also provide straightforward methods to use solar heating for swimming pools and spas. Solar tablets particularly are outstandingly straightforward to use as they simply need to be placed in the pump basket. Solar pills release a harmless compound which forms an invisible shield on the water surface that lasts for approximately thirty day, reducing heat loss thru evaporation. While solar pills are almost trouble-free to use, it’s important to note that they’re only about sixty per cent as effective as solar pool blankets and reels. On the other hand, sun pool domes need to be assembled, but are really easy to set up and take down. Moreover, since these vinyl and aluminum domes offer an enclosure for your pool that can stay in place all thru the swim season, you can enjoy reduced evaporation, luxuriously warm night swims, and an overall longer swimming season without any trouble once the original assembly is complete.

All of the above solar pool heating options can be used as your pool’s exclusive heating source or together with a conventional heater or heat pump. While the latter option will need some dependence on non-renewable power sources, it may be a preferable option for folks who like to have larger control over the heating of their pool. However if you would like to be ready to significantly increase your pool’s water temperature and to extend your swimming season while using only the sun’s energy, you may need to consider a touch more elaborate solar pool heating system. Solar pool heating systems are available for in-ground and above ground swimming pools and use solar energy panels and other similar devices to make awfully effective use of the sun’s free energy. Actually, solar pool heating systems can raise the temperature of your pool by almost 15 with no utility costs, if you don’t belive us check out different pool heat pump review by owners.

Fit a Solar Water Heater System in Your House

Why not use the power of the sun to provide you with a domestic hot water heating system?  You can make and fit diy solar water heating easily and cheaply, perhaps for under 100 dollars depending on the materials you have available.  Buying a ready made solar hot water heater will cost upwards of 1,000 dollars so making and fitting your own solar hot water system will save you hundreds of dollars, repaying its cost in one or two months.  And think of the savings every month after that!

Solar water heating works anywhere in the world – even in the middle of winter!  It is possible that solar heat might not provide all your hot water (it often does), but it will definitely save you a large chunk of your utility bill.  Savings of one third are quite usual.  These systems are simple, effective and very eco-friendly.  It is quite possible to make and fit one of these systems over a weekend, provided you get properly organized firstand get all the parts assembled.

Solar hot water systems comprise a simple glazed collector box fitted with a chain of water pipes, which connect to the domestic hot and cold water pipes at or near your hot water tank.  A drain valve is usually fitted in case you need to isolate the solar water heater for any reason, such as leaving the house empty in winter.  Doing this work is very easy, and you do not have to be any kind of expert.  Position the collector box so that it faces the mid-day sun, mounting it on the roof if you wish, or attached to a wall, but ideally close to your hot water tank to minimize heat losses through the pipes.  You will be able to get all the materials needed at your local hardware store, although you will probably find you already have some of them in your shed.

Making and fitting such a system will not interfere with or harm your existing hot water installation.  In fact, by lowering the use of the existing heaters, the solar water heater will help prolong the service of your boiler or immersion heater and also save on utility and maintenance costs.  A further advantage is that solar heat is a renewable resource, so there is an green bonus for fitting a solar water heater as well.

It also has other uses.  Solar hot water systems can be used for heating swimming pools by providing a gentle, all-year-round source of free heating.  Do you have, or are you planning on fitting, underfloor central heating?  This typically uses a constant supply of warm (as opposed to hot) water with a low flow rate. Diy solar water heating is a great way to warm your home for free.

It is amazing how satisfying it is to build a simple system that provides constant hot water without hurting our planet.

But, as always, there are pitfalls for the inexperienced when trying to make and fit a solar water heater.  It makes a lot of sense to get expert guidance and advice at the planning stage and before you start to build.  This is a small but vital investment that costs surprisingly little but will ensure you do everything safely and properly. We have  more information about this on our specialized website.

In conclusion, we know from experience that making and fitting a solar water heating system will give you immense satisfaction, a lot of fun and really significant savings, so why not give it a try?

New Patio Heaters are Less Damaging to the Environment

Ever since the release of electric patio heater, some people have always argued against them. The biggest reason for complaining about them is that they damage the environment due to the way the heat is generated. Other arguments against them are that they waste alot of heat and energy in general.

The most common of complaints, that they damage the environment, is true. The way a normal patio heater generates heat is by burning gas. As with almost everything that burns, one of the products is carbon dioxide, which damages the o-zone layer.

The second complaint that they waste heat is also true. Although they are designed with a mushroom shape lid so that heat is reflected to the ground, rather than rising, a large amount of heat is still waste.

However, with all that in mind, a heating company called Chillchaser has developed some brand new patio heaters that look to solve all of the above issues.

Instead of using the standard gas powered method of generating the heat, Chillchaser has developed a brand new way. They use carbon fibre rods which are able to generate heat. The biggest advantage of using carbon fibre rods for heating is that they emit no CO2 while creating the heat. You might think that this means it has no effect on the environment, however, it doesn’t quite. Because these heaters don’t use gas, they require electricity to power the carbon rods, however, the actual eneregy required is very little so they actually only release 50% of the emissions that a standard patio heater would.

These new patio heaters also combat the second complaint, that alot of heat is wasted. Carbon fibre heating is able to create heat that’s more focused, this means that less heat is wasted in the process.

The final advantage that Chillchaser heaters have over others is that they include an infrared sensor. The sensor is able to detect movement around it and turn the heater off when no movement is detected. This new feature means that the heater won’t be left on when it’s not in use, meaning less damage to the environment is caused.

From the looks of these new patio heaters, Chillchaser have managed to revolutionse patio heaters and many eco-friendly people won’t be able to complain about these heaters. I guess the only complaint that Chillchaser can’t resolve is that patio heaters shouldn’t be used in the first place.

I would love to see what Chillchaser could do with a standarddehumidifier; maybe build in a weather station to it, that would solve two problems in one.

Are You Paying More Than You Should On Energy?

In the 10 years, mostly spurred on by the rising gas prices and energy shortfalls, there has been a sharp increase in the interest of finding newer methods of generating energy.

Solar power, wind power, pool solar panel, solar panel heating devices, and hydrogen fuel cells are just a few of the newer technologies that are predicted to come into their own in the next decade or so. But before you rush out to invest in these newer energy sources, you should first take a look to see how you can save on your existing energy costs. Here are three easy ways to do just that:

1. Start using energy efficient light bulbs. These used to be hard to find. But nowadays, you can now find energy efficient and compact fluorescent light bulbs in all shapes, colors, wattages, and sizes. They will not only can they save you as much as 70% or more of your existing light bulb energy costs, but because they burn at less intensity than incandescent bulbs, it’s not unheard of for them to last as much as 10 times longer. If you remember, when these bulbs first came out, they were very expensive, but every year the prices have been coming down more and more.

2. Replace your old thermostats with the newer programmable thermostats. Depending on the dimensions of the area that you are heating, you will potentially save yourself hundreds of dollars a year on your heating and cooling costs. And you do this by simply programming the thermostat to turn off your heat and air conditioning at times when you are not home. The prices of these have come down so much that you can get one with multiple day and hourly settings for under 0. You’ll typically recoup your cost in less than a year and without having to invest in solar panel heating.

3. Insulate all of the walls in your home using cavity wall insulation. The lost through walls, ill fitting doors, un-insulated windows and doors can be enormous. Cavity wall insulation is injected into the cavity between the inner wall and outer exterior. Savings estimates range from 20% on the low end to 70% on the high end.

By following these three simple suggestions, you’ll be amazed at how much you actually end up saving over the course of a year.

Does The Recession Impact On The Number Of People Getting Central Heating?

The recession in 2008 hit everyone hard, but do we actually know the full extent of it? Despite the hard economic times, it is surprising to learn that people are still spending money on home improvements. There are many people who won’t let the recession beat them down and they are turning to property investment to cushion the blow. After all, it is clear that savings in the bank are doing little to impress homeowners with the poor interest rates, so home improvements seem like the best option, with one of the most popular being central heating.

Case Study – Central Heating Brighton

Lets look at Brighton, UK – as a seaside location the cold weather makes for difficult living sometimes. For this reason, homeowners are deciding to invest in central heating Brighton. Homes in Brighton that don’t have central heating struggle in the winter. Many assume that living by the sea is a happy life filled with sunshine pouring into the living room, however this isn’t actually the case. Homes that are close to the sea often feel the harsh effects of the brisk cold wind. So, if you live in Brighton, you’re likely to want to make sure you have central heating.

The recession doesn’t have to make life difficult for you if you try and remain positive and look at ways of making your life better. This could be painting a bedroom or revamping the kitchen, but the first essential thing on the list is usually to make sure central heating is installed. Never underestimate the importance of staying warm in the home. The recession is tough for many but you still have to live your life and the quality of life is important, so central heating Brighton, for example, is a main concern. After all, a one off cost like that is worth every penny in the long term.
